Mt. Moosilauke – 2022-05-21

Destination: Mt. Moosilauke
Trails: Jackie
Hike Date: 2022-05-21

Conditions:
South side of the mountain (AT) was virtually snow free and a very safe incline. There was little snow at the alpine zone, nothing that would slow anyone down- quite wet and muddy. I definitely had wet feet all day long. The North side of the mountain (Beaver Brook Trail) was pretty icy and snowy, perhaps dangerously so. Rocks we’re wet and slick, and snow pack was untrustworthy as it was half melted and breaking off with weight. As long as you take your time going down, it’s steep but doable. Be careful!

Equipment:
Trekking poles. Micro spikes may have been helpful on the way down for the ice, but would have hurt with traction on the rocks- so I didn’t put the on.
