Mt. Moosilauke – 2021-08-27

Destination: Mt. Moosilauke
Trails: Appalachian Trail Northbound
Hike Date: 2021-08-27

Conditions:
Started the day from NH Route 25 with an easy river crossing. Mix of hiking trail and road walk to the bottom of the climb (Glencliff Trail Parking). The ascent began gradually then shifted to rockier and more steep terrain. The last mile to the summit from the south peak were smooth with some puddles to watch out for. The descent was tricky and took extra time and caution due to the steep and rocky terrain. Today it wasn’t wet or slippery.

Equipment:
Hiking poles were useful for the ascent but I found it easier to descend without them. Needed my warm layers on the summit.

Comments:
No bugs today. Plenty of hikers on the summit. The last water source on the ascent was a lightly flowing spring about a mile from the summit. Plenty of water going up.
