Mt. Lafayette, Mt. Lincoln, Little Haystack Mountain – 05-31-2019

Destination: Mt. Lafayette, Mt. Lincoln, Little Haystack Mountain.

Trails: Falling Waters Trail, Franconia Ridge Trail, Old Bridal Path.

Hike Date: 05-31-2019

Conditions: Overall trails were in pretty good condition. A fair bit of mud and running water at points, especially in the last 2 miles of Bridle Path approaching the parking lot. Saw several people hiking in sneakers, but would recommend waterproof hiking boots for grip and crossing streams, etc. Water was at a good level, and I was able to cross the stream and waterfalls without getting my shoes too wet. A few trees were down across the trails. I think one on Falling Waters and two on Bridle Path. One stretch of packed snow just before reaching the summit of Little Haystack Mountain. I was fine without micro-spikes.

Equipment: Trekking Poles.

Trail Maintenance: A few trees down that may need to be removed, but all were easy to get around.

Parking & Road Access: Ample parking right at the trailhead, though lot was nearly full when we arrived back around 4pm.

Comments: Bring extra layers for the top. Very exposed and windy.
