Icy in the morning, especially between tree line and the hut. Crampons required. Very windy and cold at the top, but beautiful visibility. The trail softened in the afternoon on the way down which made it easier on the knee during the descent. Well protected by the pines from wind below tree line.
Hill sound crampons, brought snowshoes but they were not necessary.
Above the tree line it was nearly impossible to follow the trail due to the snow. We tried to follow some footprints but they were very scattered along the mountain. We just hiked up until we saw the hut. From the hut to the summit was also difficult to follow the trail. We switched back due to the ice until we reached the cairns near the summit. This would have been extremely problematic if the visibility was poor.
