Mount Jackson – 2019-05-11

Destination: Mount Jackson
Trails: Webster Jackson trail
Hike Date: 2019-05-11

Conditions:
Took trail from Crawford Notch, started out as wet with some mud, water crossing at Flume cascade was really moving, used a log to walk over it. Monorail started to appear just before junction and needed spikes after the junction with Jackson trail. Monorail continues until just before rock scrambling section immediately below the summit. All bare rock for the last 0.1 mile. Very windy and no bugs.

Equipment:
Microspikes

Trail Maintenance:
There’s one very large tree across the trail before the junction with Mount Jackson Trail. Someone did use an axe to split it in half but it’s still a challenge to get over/under.

Parking & Road Access:
Tons of parking off 302 since the huge snow banks have melted away

Comments:
No bugs yet, lots of snow above 2900 feet. Bring spikes! Especially on the descent, it was slippery. Lots of small trash on trail that I packed out.
