Mount Garfield – 2024-06-15

Destination: Mount Garfield
Trails: Mount Garfield Trail
Hike Date: 2024-06-15

Conditions:
Very popular hike. Slightly muddy. 3 stream crossings—all rock hoppable. COLD even in the middle of June—very windy so didn’t stay long at top.

Equipment:
Used sticks part of the time but more useful down and since there is a bit of rock scrambling to get to the foundation of the old fire tower put them away at one point.

Trail Maintenance:
No blow downs but some serious widow makers on the trail.

Parking & Road Access:
Parking is TINY and tight. If you don’t get there before 8 you’ll be parking on the side of the road in a ditch. Be mindful of which side because one side parking is prohibited.

Comments:
Lovely hike but LONG. Galehead hut is 3.5 approximately from summit. Overshadowed by the rest of the views on the other Presidentials. Relatively easy hike.
