Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest – 2022-02-19

Conditions:
Road was extremely passable, packed snow because of snow mobiles, icy in patches underneath fresh snow & deep snow accumulation along roadsides – your foot may plow through the snow in areas 2-3ft deep!

Equipment:
Microspikes were super useful, my hiking partner and I only had one pair so we both wore only one each and it was fine!

Trail Maintenance:
Some trees broken along road, easily passable

Parking & Road Access:
Parked at Mirror Lake Public Beach & hiked up Mirror Lake Rd (~.5 miles) to Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest and research laboratory.

Comments:
There is some very interesting weather research equipment at the front door of Hubbard Brook Ecosystem Lab and interpretive signage about major research accomplishments & local ecology. Super cool!
